Photos: Local Natives – Live @ Outside Lands Festival 2014

Taylor Rice - Local Natives - Outside Lands - August 9th 2014

IMHO Local Natives are one of the best (if not the best) LA indie rock band to come out of Los Angeles since Cold War Kids. When I first saw them perform at SXSW in 2009 (outside at Emo’s), i was high on them and knew these guys were the real deal. Five years later Local Natives have released two great albums and performed at every major music festival around the world. They’ve proved that they are indeed, the real deal.

I’ve now photographed Local Natives over a dozen times, and its always a great shoot. They are animated and visceral. And guitarist/singer Taylor Rice has one of the best mustaches in music. The dude looks cool. With two super solid singers, and songs that are of equal standing, Local Natives simply rocks. The band played on the main stage for this Outside Lands Festival set on August 9th, 2014 (Haim, Death Cab for Cutie and Tom Petty followed in that order on this very stage). For the final song of this Outside Lands festival set, singer Taylor Rice jumped into the crowd, the above picture i managed to snap quickly in the madness. Below is a setlist from this Outside Lands performance (courtesy
